  • The Library

The Asian Center Library has holdings of over 32,000 accessioned books and serial titles,
as well as a modest collection of more than 3,000 volumes in Asian languages. It also
grants access to electronic journal services to which the University subscribes, such as
Proquest Academic Research Library and EBSCOhost.

In addition, right across the Asian Center Library is the library of the Institute of
    Islamic Studies.

    The Asian Center Museum

Within its limited financial resources, the Center maintains a collection of Philippine
archaeological and ethnographic materials, examples of which are on display at the
Bulwagang Sala'am. Museum tours may be arranged for small groups of elementary
and high school students, with an introduction to the permanent display.

In support of instruction and research, the Center also produces and maintains a small
collection of Philippine and other Asian archaeological, ethnographic, historical, and other
cultural materials in the form of photographs, slides, films, audio and video tapes, etc.

    Bulwagang Sala'am (Hall of Peace)

This conference hall has a seating capacity of 150 people. It also houses part of the Center's
ethnographic and archeological collection. The hall is a favorite venue not only for lectures
and academic conferences but also for assemblies by non-government organizations
and other groups from outside the university. For more information e-mail lilia.marquez@up.edu.ph

    THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES-DILIMAN

The University of the Philippines System is the country's premier
institution of higher learning and has seven constituent universities
nationwide. UP Diliman is its flagship university, located in a
493-hectare campus in Quezon City, less than 20 kilometers north
of Manila. UP Diliman offers 94 academic programs at the under-
graduate and graduate levels. It runs several centers of research,
many of which have been declared by the Commission on Higher
Education as National Centers of Excellence.

In the ranks of the UP faculty are national artists, prize-
winning writers, and renowned scholars and scientists. Both
undergraduates and graduate students have access to some
of the best minds in the country. Highly skilled practitioners
teach in the professional colleges and keep the students
updated on the latest developments in their fields. The faculty
is also actively engaged in pioneering researches that have
helped redefine academic directions, generate new knowledge
    and shape national policies.

The various colleges on campus are linked through a fiber-optic
network. Many of the libraries are already computerized and
provide automated services. Students can also enjoy low board
and lodging rates at 10 residence halls.
