  • Read Japan Expands UP Asian Center’s Library Collection

    The UP Asian Center has been selected as one of the recipients of materials by the Read Japan Project. The impressive collection covered the fields Japanese Culture and HistoryJapanese contemporary societyand even Japanese architecture. A total of fifty-four (54) books were donated to the UP Asian Center Library on 26 March 2024.

  • UP Asian Center Hosts Launch of Book on WWII Filipino Infantry Regiments

    The UP Asian Center organized a book launch of "Dauntless: The 1st & 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiments, United States Army," authored by Marie Silva Vallejo. Held on 18 April 2024, at the Seminar Room, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center, the event included a public lecture shedding light on the critical role played by these Filipino regiments in World War II.

In partnership with the Institute of Asian and African Studies, Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU-IAAS), the UP Asian Center recently held a two-day online international conference, Asia Today: Meaningful Change in the Post-Pandemic Transition last 9-10 November 2023, via Zoom.

The UP Asian Center and the Asian Studies Center recently conducted a joint conference, “New Asian Connectivities” last 12-13 December 2023 at the UP Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman.

The inaugural International Symposium on Cultural Tourism and Heritage Studies is organized for scholars, practitioners, and stakeholders with the aim of exploring the dynamics of culture, heritage, and tourism. In this symposium, authors present their research, insights, and expertise in the global discourse on cultural heritage within the context of tourism experiences in Southeast Asia. The plenary sessions will be held on March 6-7, 2024, at The Evitel Resort Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.

The UP Asian Center, in partnership with UP CIFAL Philippines, will be holding a special lecture, “Connections and Collaborations: The Case of Japanese, Zainichi Koreans, and Filipinos in Kyoto” on 2 March 2024, 9:00 am to 11:30 am (GMT+8), at the Seminar Room, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center, UP Diliman. The event is free and open to the public.

The UP Asian Center successfully held a face-to-face Student Orientation for newly admitted students for the Second Semester of Academic Year 2023-2024 on 3 February 2024, at the Seminar Room, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center. Thirteen (13) new students were oriented on the Center’s academic programs and policies, resources, and facilities.
