  • Read Japan Expands UP Asian Center’s Library Collection

    The UP Asian Center has been selected as one of the recipients of materials by the Read Japan Project. The impressive collection covered the fields Japanese Culture and HistoryJapanese contemporary societyand even Japanese architecture. A total of fifty-four (54) books were donated to the UP Asian Center Library on 26 March 2024.

  • UP Asian Center Hosts Launch of Book on WWII Filipino Infantry Regiments

    The UP Asian Center organized a book launch of "Dauntless: The 1st & 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiments, United States Army," authored by Marie Silva Vallejo. Held on 18 April 2024, at the Seminar Room, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center, the event included a public lecture shedding light on the critical role played by these Filipino regiments in World War II.

The Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman is looking for one (1) graduate assistant for the Office of the Dean for the Second Semester, AY 2023–2024. The UP Asian Center, in partnership with UP Center for International Studies, and Philippines-Cuba Cultural and Friendship Association (PhilCuba), will be holding a public forum, “The Resurgence of the Left in Latin America and the Challenge of the Right in the Global South: Implications for Asia and the Philippines” on 5 February 2024, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (GMT+8), PH Time, at the Seminar Room, UP Asian Center. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-serve.

The UP Asian Center and the UP Center for International Studies (CIS) hosted the Cultural Heritage Lecture: Heritage Law Vital Signs and Symbols last 24 October 2023 at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium in celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the UP CIS.

The Asian Center of the University of the Philippines Diliman is saddened by the passing of Professor Emeritus Josefa Saniel on 21 December 2023, and wishes to express its deep gratitude for her valuable service to the University and country.  Dr. Saniel, who was Asian Center Dean (1980-1983) and appointed as professor emeritus by UP in 1993, was a pioneer of and leading scholar in Japan Studies and area studies in the Philippines.
