A countersigned ID is required upon entering the library reading room. Users should sign the log book, leave their bags at the counter and keep the number tag for your bag security.
The Library staff on duty is authorized to countersign ID to bona fide UP students upon presentation of registration forms. New students should, in addition, present the receipt from the Registrar's Office for your U.P. ID, and 1x1 ID picture as basis for issuance of temporary ID.
Rules for Borrowing Books
- Circulation Books
Students may borrow books for two weeks. Undergraduates may borrow five (5) books and graduate students may borrow ten (10) books including those from other college libraries. Faculty and staff have a loan period of one month and can borrow up to ten books at a time.
No loans may be made if a book on loan is kept beyond due date. A book may be renewed if no reservation has been made for it. A renewal may be made by bringing the book to the loan desk. If the borrowers fail to return the books on time an overdue fine of 2 pesos / day (excluding Sundays and Holidays), will be charged. If the Due Date Card was lost there is a fine of Php100.00 plus affidavit.
- Reserve Books
Reserve books may be loaned for overnight use only. Please ask the Desk Assistant regarding the availability of the books or be guided by the list. Write your name and author/title of the book on a sheet of paper and give it to the Desk Assistant for your reservation. The overdue fine is 1 peso for the first hour; 5 pesos for succeeding hours and 50 pesos / day (inclusive, of Sundays and Holidays).
The Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D. program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
