 The Consortium of the Southeast Asian Studies in Asia welcomes paper and panels for the biennial Southeast Asian Studies in Asia Conference (SEASIA 2019), with the theme “Change and Resistance: Future Directions of Southeast Asia,” on 5 to 7 December 2019 at the Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. Deadline of submissions has been extended to 1 April 2019.

CONFERENCE TOPICS

Scholars are encouraged to submit papers with the following subthemes to be presented at the conference.

3)  Debating Inclusive Growth in Rural and Urban Settings

4)  Environmental Justice, Land and Maritimes Sustainability and Climate Change

8)  Democratization, Populism and Civil Society

9)  Dynamics of Religions and Spiritualties

10)  Ethnicity and Gender

11)  Challenges to Economic Vitality.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The SEASIA Biennial Conference 2019 is organized by the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), National Chengchi University and the Center For Asia-Pacific Studies (Research Center For Humanities And Social Sciences), Academia Sinica in Taiwan, and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) in Kyoto University, Japan. Members of the Consortium of the Southeast Asian Studies in Asia, including the UP Asian Center, are co-organizers of the event.

The Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D.  program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
