We are inviting everyone to participate in the Public Forum on the Search for the Next Asian Center Dean on 06 April 2021 (Tuesday) from 8:00 am – 10:00 a.m via Zoom.

The candidates for the deanship of the UP Asian Center are:
  • Prof. Ma. Mercedes G. Planta, Ph.D.
  • Assoc. Prof. Henelito A. Sevilla, Jr., Ph.D.
The public forum will feature the presentation of vision and plans of the nominees, as well as the presentation of accomplishments of the incumbent dean, Dr. Joefe B. Santarita.
This also serves as a venue for the concerned stakeholders (faculty, alumni, students, staff) to raise their questions and concerns to the nominees and hear their plans in addressing these concerns.

The UP Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D.  program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
