  • Call for Abstracts: Asia in an Era of (Un)Certainties: Transitions and Trajectories

    The UP Asian Center is now accepting abstract submissions for the 2024 AC Graduate Student Conference, “Asia in an Era of (Un)Certainties: Transitions and Trajectories.” The deadline for submission is on 15 May 2024, Wednesday, 5:00 PM. The conference is open only for the students of the UP Asian Center and TriCollege Ph.D. Philippine Studies Program.

Following the lifting of travel restrictions, the Asian Center sent five Japan Studies majors to participate on a one-week study tour in the Kansai region, Japan sponsored by the Konnosuke Matsushita Foundation from 11 to 18 December 2022.

Prof. Eduardo C. Tadem, Ph.D., UP Asian Center Professorial Lecturer, along with 20 others from different units in UP Diliman, has been conferred Professor Emeritus during the 1376th Meeting of the UP Board of Regents.

The UP Asian Center in partnership with the UP Chinese Student Association (UPSCA) will be hosting a webinar via Zoom, “Building Bridges: Unraveling the Cultural History of the Chinese in the Philippines” on 12 December 2022, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Philippine Standard Time. The webinar is free and open to the public. Registration and signing in to a (free) Zoom account is required.

The UP Asian Center will hold The Asia Concert with the theme, "Samar": Tinig, Galaw, Salita on 27 November 2022, Sunday, 6:00 pm (GMT+8) at the GT-Toyota Auditorium, Asian Center, Diliman. The event is open to the public. Tickets are priced at PhP 200 each, available for pre-order. Seating is first-come, first-served.

The University of the Philippines Diliman, through the Asian Center,  and the Mindanao State University – Main Campus (MSU-Main) are forging ahead with a partnership to promote the interface of Mindanao studies and Asian studies in the two campuses on 18 November 2022, 10:00 am (GMT+8), at the Japan Hall, UP Asian Center.
