  • UP Asian Center Library, Recipient of Japan Foundation Headquarters Grant

    The UP Asian Center has been selected as one of the recipients of books and materials by the Japan Foundation Grant Program 2023. Under the Japan Foundation Grant Program for Japanese Studies Projects (Library Support), a total of 39 books were donated to the UP Asian Center Library on 1 April 2024.

  • Read Japan Expands UP Asian Center’s Library Collection

    The UP Asian Center has been selected as one of the recipients of materials by the Read Japan Project. The impressive collection covered the fields Japanese Culture and HistoryJapanese contemporary societyand even Japanese architecture. A total of fifty-four (54) books were donated to the UP Asian Center Library on 26 March 2024.

  • UP Asian Center Hosts Launch of Book on WWII Filipino Infantry Regiments

    The UP Asian Center organized a book launch of "Dauntless: The 1st & 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiments, United States Army," authored by Marie Silva Vallejo. Held on 18 April 2024, at the Seminar Room, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center, the event included a public lecture shedding light on the critical role played by these Filipino regiments in World War II.

The UP Asian Center, together with the Seoul National University - Asia Center and the UP Korea Research Center successfully held the Korea Studies Special Workshop, “Multiple Connections Between the Philippines and the Korean Peninsula” on 3 December 2022 at Microtel by Wyndham, UP Technohub.

 As part of the UP Asian Center’s 67th Founding Anniversary, the UP Asian Center recently hosted The Asia Concert with the theme, Samar: Tinig, Galaw, Salita on 27 November 2022, Sunday at the GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center Auditorium. The event was the first of its size after almost three years of online concerts and activities.

Ten (10) UP Asian Center faculty members was awarded the One UP Professorial Chair Grant for the 2022-2024 cycle in recognition of their research and mentoring efforts in the previous year. Below are the awardees from the UP Asian Center.

The UP Asian Center congratulates Professorial Lecturer Jaime A. FlorCruz for being appointed as the Philippine Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China on 7 December 2022.

The UP Asian Center in partnership with the Philippine Association for Chinese Studies (PACS) will be hosting the Ambassador Chito Sta. Romana Memorial Lecture, “China's Rise and its Implications for ASEAN” on 10 February 2023, 9:30 am, Philippine Standard Time, ONSITE at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public. Online registration is required. Seating is first-come, first-served.
