Ten (10) UP Asian Center faculty members was awarded the One UP Professorial Chair Grant for the 2022-2024 cycle in recognition of their research and mentoring efforts in the previous year. Below are the awardees from the UP Asian Center.

The UP Asian Center congratulates Professorial Lecturer Jaime A. FlorCruz for being appointed as the Philippine Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China on 7 December 2022.

The UP Asian Center in partnership with the Philippine Association for Chinese Studies (PACS) will be hosting the Ambassador Chito Sta. Romana Memorial Lecture, “China's Rise and its Implications for ASEAN” on 10 February 2023, 9:30 am, Philippine Standard Time, ONSITE at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public. Online registration is required. Seating is first-come, first-served. 

The UP Asian Center conducted an Alumni Kumustahan session online last 3 December 2022, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, via Zoom. Representatives from recent and past graduates met and had a lively “kumustahan” or catching up, explored new opportunities, and discussed the reconvening of the Asian Center Alumni Association.

Following the lifting of travel restrictions, the Asian Center sent five Japan Studies majors to participate on a one-week study tour in the Kansai region, Japan sponsored by the Konnosuke Matsushita Foundation from 11 to 18 December 2022.
