Wherever I am, the world comes after me.
It offers me its busyness. It does not believe that I do not want it.
Now I understand
why the old poets of China went so far
and high
into the mountains, then crept into the pale mist.
"The Old Poets of China" by Mary Oliver

The UP Asian Center will launch—via Zoom—an exhibit titled "Bulwagan ng mga Bayani: Alay, Alaala, at Pagpupugay sa mga Bayani ng Pilipinas" on 21 March 2022, 3 pm. The launching is free and open to the public, but participation requires signing in to a Zoom account.

About the Exhibit

This exhibit features the busts of the three martyred priests, Gomez, Burgos, and Zamora and 13 other national heroes. The busts were made by Graciano Nepomuceno, a renowned Filipino sculptor and santero (icon maker), and were once owned by General Guillermo Masangkay, one of the original members of the Katipunan.
The online launch will also feature a lecture on GomBurZa, Graciano Nepomuceno,  performances by guest singers and artists, as well as the curator's remarks from Dr. Matthew Santamaria, Professor of the UP Asian Center.
The exhibit aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Philippines national heroes and the roles they played in Philippine and Asian history. Organized by the Asian Center Museum,  the launch is being held in line with the University of the Philippines Diliman’s celebration of the 2022 Arts and Culture Festival with the theme, kaMALAYAn: Pamana ng GomBurZa @ 150.
The exhibit will be housed at the Hall of Wisdom, GT-Toyota, Asian Cultural Center, and at the Asian Center's Museum page. Videos will be available on the UP Asian Center Youtube Channel.
