The UP Asian Center is looking for one (1) web developer to help back up and migrate all the content of its two websites to the latest Content Migration System (Wordpress or preferably Joomla 3) OR to develop two new websites featuring the latest Content Management System (little content migration). This is a one-time project.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The new websites — for the UP Asian Center (this site) and Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspectives on Asia — will retain the general their current look and layout, including the size, number of position of modules, the number of menu items, etc. The websites should also contain the following or at least similar features/capabilities/plug-ins:
- Javascript Pop-up of Links or PDFs
- Iframe wrapper capabilities for embedding content (YouTube, PDFs, etc)
- Slideshow capability
- Lightbox functionality for images and PDFs (WidgetKit, etc.)
- Multiple columns for menus
- This type of typography (CSS) - particularly "box-info"
- Adjusting of indents for text
- TinyMCE or something similar
- Social media sharing buttons (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
- Print and email article buttons
- Ability to display RSS Feeds
- Latest news articles (scroller for titles of news release)
In addition, the web developer will:
- Work in coordination/consultation with the UP Computer Center to upload the websites to the UP servers.
- Prep the back end and websites to the point that majority of the content will then be simply supplied and uploaded via Joomla or Wordpress by the UP Asian Center staff.
- Provide, during and after the project, minimal, additional guidance (as necessary; what plug-in to use, how-to matters, etc.) to the Asian Center staff managing the websites.
Project requires no graphic design, which will be done by the UP Asian Center staff, who will provide all the specs (size of modules, etc., size of home page slideshow).

The UP Asian Center offers M.A. programs in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D. program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy. Get an overview of these programs.
