Korea Studies majors of the UP Asian Center, along with Master in International Studies students, presented their research studies at the very first “Korean Studies Graduate Students Conference” last 6 May 2017, 8am to 5 am at the China Hall, Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The first Korean Studies Graduate Students Conference was hosted by UP Korea Research Center in partnership with Korean Cultural Center and the UP Asian Center. Dean of the UP Asian Center, Dr. Joefe B. Santarita, delivered the Welcome Address. Dr. Aldrin P. Lee, co-reseracher at the UP Korea Research Center, delivered the opening address, which was followed by a special message from Director of the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines, Dr. Lee Jin-cheol. Dr. Michelle Palumbarit, Assistant Professor at the UP Asian Center ended the conference with a closing synthesis.

The purpose of the conference was to highlight the ongoing work and research in Korean Studies, and to promote the meaningful and collaborative intellectual work between Korean and Philippine institutions.

ENROLL: MA Programs: Asian Studies @ UP Asian Center 

The UP Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D. program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy. Get an overview of these programs. The Asian Center also houses a peer-reviewed, open-access journal, Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspectives on Asia. It has published several books and monographs, and hosts or organizes various lectures and conferences.
