Dr. Tina S. Clemente, Associate Professor at the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman, presented her paper entitled, “An Exploratory Mapping of China Studies in the Philippines” at an international workshop held at the Universiti Malaya on 8 September 2015.
Hosted by the Institute of China Studies, Universiti of Malaya, the International Workshop on Contemporary China Studies in Southeast Asia is by the Southeast Asian Network of Contemporary China Studies. The participants shared how China Studies as a field has been faring so far within and among Southeast Asian countries.
Dr. Tina S. Clemente’s research interests include China Studies, Philippine-China relations, Chinese in the Philippines, Development Studies and Philippine Economic History. Dr. Clemente also handles several graduate courses at the UP Asian Center, including Social and Economic Development in China, Theories of Development, and Special Problems in Asian Studies, among others. She completed her Ph.D. in Economics from the School of Economics, University of the Philippines Diliman.
he Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D. program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
