Students from the Mindanao State University, Marawi City visited the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman to listen to three public lectures on Philippine foreign relations on 27 May 2015, at ASEAN Hall, Hall of Wisdom, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center, Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman.

The students are taking up Bachelor Science in International Relations, and their visit was part of their practicum in Manila.  Two Asian Center faculty, and one professor from Mindanao State University in Marawi gave the following lectures:

  • Philippines-India Economic Relations by Dr. Joefe B. Santarita, Dean and Associate Professor at the Asian Center
  • Bangsamoro Struggle: Its Implications on Philippines-Muslim World Relations by Dr. Ali Panda, Dean and Professor at King Faisal Center for Islamic, Arabic, and Asian Studies in Mindanao State University, Marawi City
  • Resource Competition (Energy) and Philippine Diplomacy by Dr. Henelito Sevilla, Jr. West Asia Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor at the Asian Center.

The Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D. program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
