Professor Eduardo T. Gonzalez, Dean of the Asian Center, attended the "2015 AKS Korea Studies Forum: Development of Cooperative Strategies for Global Korean Studies through a Korean Studies Seed Program Forum," which was held in Siem Reap, Cambodia from 1 to 3 April 2015.

His paper, Korea Studies in the Philippines: Creating the Momentum for a New Beginning, offers a proposal for a “more unified Korea-related studies program in the University of the Philippines involving the Asian Center and other academic units of the university.”

The conference was organized by the Korean Studies Promotion Service, Academy of Korean Studies. Dean Gonzalez teaches graduate courses in Philippine Studies. Visit his faculty profile here.

The Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D. program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
