The Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman will be holding a public forum, “Hallyu: Beyond the Fantasy of K-Pop,” on Saturday, 18 April 2015, 8:00 am  to 11:30 am, ASEAN Hall, Hall of Wisdom, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center, Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman. The event is free and open to the public. 

In this forum, six graduate students taking up Asian Studies 237.3 (Culture and Society in Korea) will discuss a diverse range of topics on other elements of Hallyu apart from K-Pop:

  • Korean pop culture: past and present
  • Old into New: Ancient Korean Images in Contemporary Media
  • Cultural Tourism: South Korea’s Crowning Glory
  • K-Pop’s Impact on Social Change in South Korea
  • “How are you Hangeul? Hallyu OK?”
  • Life of a Foreign Exchange Student in Korea

The forum aims to help participants discover other facets of Korean history, culture, and society through and beyond Hallyu. Registration runs between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Certificates of Attendance will be given and refreshments will be served.
