Two Asian Center students presented papers in a workshop on Korean public diplomacy, "Korea in the World: Promoting Mutual Understanding and Global Partnerships" which was held from 22 to 23 May 2014 at Ewha Women's in Seoul, Korea.


Ivy Ganadillo, an MA Asian Studies student, presented “Koreans in the Philippine Multi-Cultural Society: Prospects and Challenges”, wherein she discussed the issues involving the Korean diaspora in Filipino society. Meanwhile, Katrina Navallo, a Master of Asian Studies student, examined the developments and updates on Korean studies in the Philippines in her presentation, “A Survey of the State of Korean Studies in the Philippines.


The conference gathered 19 foreign students and scholars from Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia to discuss Korea’s public diplomacy and image-building in their respective countries. The conference is organized by the Graduate School of International Studies, Ewha Womans University and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Korea.

The Asian Center offers an MA in Asian Studies with specializations on any of four regions: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. Northeast Asian studies program includes a country specialization on Korean studies.
