The Asian Center held its Recognition Day for its 2013-2014 graduating class last Sunday, 27 April 2014 at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman.

Hon. Loretta Ann P. Rosales, Chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights and an alumna of the Asian Center, was the guest of honor. Maria Dolores G. Alicias and Marilyn Canta delivered the response on behalf of the MA and Ph.D. graduates, respectively.

Thirteen students comprise the graduating class of 2013-2014. Under the Master of Arts in Asian Studies program (thesis track):

  • Ferrer, Jasmine | Forging Peace in South Thailand: Case Study of the Building Peace by Teaching Peace Program in Pattani Province

  • Garcia, Lermie Shayne | Southeast Asia & China: South-South Development Cooperation or New Hegemony

  • Sioson, Erica Paula | Communicating the Popular & the Quotidian in Japan: When Filipino Wives Engage in Image-Production through Facebook.

  • Ubalde, Marrianne | Diverging Narratives: Lives & Identities of Japanese-Filipino Children in the Philippines.

Joining them are Princess Fame Pascua and Myrtle Anne Zabala, who finished their Master in Philippine Studies and Master in Asian Studies, respectively. The Tri-College Ph.D. Philippine Studies Program produced two graduates this year:
