The Asian Center is facilitating a human rights forum called Towards Preventing Extra-Judicial Killings and Enforced Disappearances, and Ending Impunity: Progresses and Constraints,”  which will be held at the Asian Center on 11 March 2014, Tuesday, 8:00 am to 11:30 nn.

The Forum aims to provide opportunities to discuss human rights violations focusing on extra- judicial killings and enforced disappearances, in relation to justice and redress for victims, and to identify available administrative and judicial remedies for victims of extra-judicial killings and other human rights violations in the Philippines and in the Southeast Asian region.

Keynote speeches shall be delivered by Chief Justice Reynato Puno, Congressman Neri Javier Colmenares, and Mr. Bo Astrom of the EU-Philippine Justice and Support Program II (EPJUST II).

Also invited as members of the panel of reactors are representatives of the:

  • Commission of Human Rights
  • Armed Forces of the Philippines
  • ASEAN Inter-governmental Commission on Human Right
  • Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA) and 
  • A representative from the media as a sector that also suffered much under extra-judicial and political killings in the recent past.
