The Asian Center will host 'Trending Now: Emerging Issues in Korean Studies,' the 2nd Philippine-Korean Studies symposium on Friday and Saturday, 13-14 December 2013. Organized by the Korea Foundation and the Center for International Studies of the University of the Philippines Diliman, among others, the symposium will feature several panels, including Korea in a Multicultural and Global Context and Prospecting Collaborative Korean Studies in the Philippines. 

Various Filipino scholars will present various papers covering a broad range of topics such as:

  • Gender
  • Media
  • The Korean War
  • Acculturation of Korean students in the Philippines
  • Korean politics and literature, and
  • Philippines-Korea relations, among others. 

Asian Center faculty, Dr. Carolyn Sobritchea and Associate Professor Lily Ann Polo will take part in the symposium as reactors/discussants in separate panels. Associate Professor Lily Ann Polo handles the MA in Korean Studies program of the Asian Center.
