The Asian Center, in partnership with the Kims Yok mo Foundation, held a forum and photo exhibit on 'Turkish Cultural and Humanitarian Diplomacy in the Philippines' last Friday, 29 November 2013, 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Seminar Room of the Hall of Wisdom, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center, Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman.
The forum explores, among other things, a part of Turkey's diplomacy and foreign relations with Asia, and will feature the lecture:
Turkish International Humanitarian Activities
Mr. Metin Cetiner
Vice President for International Relations, Kimsi Yuk Mo Foundation
Mr. Metin Cetiner, Vice-President of Kim Se Yokmu, presented the various relief operations and humanitarian activities that the foundation has spearheaded in the Philippines especially in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan that devastated much of Central Visayas, particularly Tacloban City in Leyte Province.
Kimse Yokmu was one of the first aid organizations to reach the badly-hit area and gave much-needed relief supplies to survivors of the natural disaster. The forum created awareness and provided new insights into the humanitarian work that Turkey has been doing in the Philippines and explored ways for further cooperation between the two countries.
Kims Yokmu Foundation (English translation: Is Anybody There?) is a Turkish non-government organization that had its start during the 1999 earthquake that rocked northwestern Turkey. It formally became an NGO in March 2004 and has provided much-needed aid in 60 countries around the world.
