The UP Samahan ng Mag-Aaral ng Asya (SAMA)—the student organization of the UP Asian Center— will be holding elections for its next batch of officers from 24 to 30 April 2019. Filing of candidacies runs from 27 March 2019 to 6 April 2019, and campaign period opens 8 April 2019 and ends 23 April 2019.
OPEN POSITIONS
The elections will cover the following posts for Academic Year 2019–2020, which starts August 2019:
- President
- Vice-President
- Secretary-General
- Academic and Research Head
- Finance and Logistics Head
- Socio-Cultural Affairs Head
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a bonafide graduate student of the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman (enrolled in any of its graduate programs)
- Must have no major academic and non-academic misconduct

The Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D. program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
