Prof. Tina Clemente, Ph.D., UP Asian Center Professor and current Assistant to the Dean for Academic Affairs was awarded the 2022 Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro, one of the most prestigious distinctions awarded to the UP Diliman faculty for their exemplary accomplishments and contributions to their respective fields. The awarding ceremonies will be held virtually on 24 June 2022, 6:00 pm, PHT and can be watched live via the official UP Diliman website and Youtube Channel.

THE GAWAD TSANSELOR

The Gawad Tsanselor is the most prestigious distinction awarded to the members of the UP Diliman community to recognize their outstanding performance in various fields of university work such as teaching, research and creative work, extension, administration, and student activities. It is given to faculty, students, administrative staff, and research and extension professional staff (REPS) during the week-long celebration, Linggo ng Parangal. The award has six categories: Natatanging Guro, Natatanging Mananaliksik sa Filipino, Natatanging REPS, Natatanging Kawani, Natatanging Mag-aaral, and Natatanging Programang Pang-Ekstensiyon.
The Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro category has been awarded since 1995.

DR. TINA S. CLEMENTE

Dr. Clemente is a professor and currently the Assistant to the Dean for Academic Affairs at the UP Asian Center. She finished B.S. Business Economics, M.A. in Economics, and Ph.D. in Economics at the School of Economics, University of the Philippines Diliman. She is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Studies Journal. Her research interests include China Studies, Chinese in the Philippines, Philippine economic history, and development studies. View full profile here.

The Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The UP Asian Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. It also offers a Ph.D. program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
