The UP Asian Center are calling Japan Majors of the UP Asian Center to participate in the “2022 Experience Japan: K. Matsushita Foundation Japan Study Tour.” Deadline of submissions is extended until 5 September 2022, Monday, 5:00 PM. Authors of selected outstanding essays will join an all-expense paid study tour in the Kansai area of Japan in December 2022.
Get a chance to visit Kansai, Japan, all-expense-paid in December 2022. Just submit an essay answering the questions below:

♦ Which aspects would you consider (most to least) fundamental to understanding Japan in contemporary times?
ELIGIBILITY
Open only to the Japan Studies majors of the UP Asian Center currently enrolled in the program, preferably with a basic level of Japanese proficiency and has never been to Japan
ESSAY AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
♦ The essay must answer the following questions:
♦ Using the five senses, how would you like to experience Japan?
♦ Which aspects would you consider (most to least) fundamental to understanding Japan in contemporary times?
♦ No more than 2000 words, 1.5 spaced, Times New Roman font, size 12.
♦ On top of the first page, please put your name, year in the program, and level of Japanese proficiency.

STUDY TOUR COVERAGE
The expenses for the study tour will cover the following:
♦ Roundtrip airfare from Manila to Japan, and vice versa.
♦ Visa fee.
♦ Food and accomodations in Japan.
♦ Transportation duringt he study tour proper.

The Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The UP Asian Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies.
