The UP Asian Center are calling all AC Japan Majors to participate in the “Understanding Japan: 2023 K. Matsushita Foundation Japan Study Tour.” Deadline of submissions is EXTENDED to 9 October 2023, Monday, 5:00 PM. Selected students will join an all-expense paid study tour in the Kansai area of Japan in December 2023.

Calling all Japan majors to join the 2023 K. Matsushita Foundation Japan Study Tour. Get a chance to visit Kansai, Japan in December 2023. Submit an essay based on the theme below:
• This year marks the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan relations. If you were to travel to Japan this year, what facets of its history, society, and culture would you like to experience or know more about?
• Why do these elements matter in deepening the friendship between Japan and ASEAN?

ELIGIBILITY

The application is open to all Japanese majors currently enrolled in the program, preferably with a basic level of Japanese proficiency, and has never been to Japan. Previous participants are not eligible to join.

ESSAY AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

•   Write an essay answering the following questions:
     o   This year marks the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan relations. If you were to travel to Japan this year, what facets of its history, society, and culture would you like to experience or know more about?
     o   Why do these elements matter in deepening the friendship between Japan and ASEAN?
•   No more than 2000 words, 1.5 spaced, Times New Roman font, size 12.
•   Please put your name, year in the program, and level of Japanese proficiency on top of the first page.

•   The deadline for submission is EXTENDED to 9 October 2023, Monday, 5:00PM.

STUDY TOUR COVERAGE

The expenses for the study tour will cover the following:
   •   Roundtrip airfare from Manila to Japan, and vice versa
   •   Visa fee
   •   Food and accommodation in Japan
   •.  Transportation during the study tour proper

The Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia.
