ABOUT THE BOOK TALK
Fully Booked in partnership with the UP Korea Research Center and UP Asian Center is collaborating on an event with publisher Penguin Random House with an author visit featuring Haemin Sunim, the acclaimed author of The Map of Imperfect Things. With the significant interest in his work amongst many Filipino readers and Fully Booked’s successful sales of his book, it is anticipated a high level of enthusiasm in case we do an event with him. The event will be held in Metro Manila for two days: 24 January in UP Diliman Campus, 25 January in Fully Booked BGC branch. For the UP Diliman Campus activity, UP Korea Research Center is partnering with the UP Asian Center in co-hosting the event for wider audience including graduate students who are specializing in Korea.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
HAENIM SUNIM
Zen Buddhist Teacher and Bestselling Author
Born in South Korea and educated at Berkeley, Harvard, and Princeton, Haenim Sunim received formal monastic training from Haein monastery, in South Korea. He taught Asian religions at Hampshire College in Massachusetts for seven years. He is one of the most influential Zen monks in the world. His first book, The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down has been translated into more than 35 languages and sold over four million copies. His second book, Love for Imperfect Things was the number one bestseller of 2016 in South Korea and became available in multiple languages in 2019. Haemin resides in Seoul when not traveling to share his teachings.

The Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia.
