The UP Asian Center will hold the workshop "Mind Matters: A Mental Health Talk on Stress and Coping" on 25 April 2025, 3:00 PM, PHT at the Japan Hall, UP Asian Center. The event is free and open to the all AC students, faculty, and staff only.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR
The Asian Center recognizes the importance of mental well-being, especially in high-pressure academic and professional environments. Stress is a common challenge faced by students, faculty, and staff, often leading to burnout and decreased productivity. To address this, the Center proposes a mental health talk focused on stress management, aiming to provide practical strategies to help individuals cope with daily pressures. This initiative aligns with the commitment to fostering a supportive and resilient academic community.
The talk will feature a mental health professional who will discuss the science behind stress, its impact on mental and physical health, and effective coping mechanisms such as mindfulness, time management, and cognitive reframing. An interactive format, including a guided relaxation exercise and an open forum, will encourage participants to engage, reflect, and share their experiences. By creating a safe space for discussion, the session also seeks to reduce the stigma surrounding stress and mental health concerns.
Through this event, participants will gain valuable insights and actionable strategies to improve their stress management skills. Additionally, it will promote a culture of mental wellness within the Asian Center, encouraging proactive approaches to self-care and support-seeking behaviors. With proper coordination and partnerships, this initiative can contribute to a healthier, more balanced academic environment for everyone involved.
