Two Korea Majors from the Asian Center, UP Diliman, will be participating in international events and activities on Korea Studies in South Korea from July to August 2025.
MONANA TO PRESENT AT THE 2025 SEAA-SNU CONFERENCE
Asian Center MA Student, Hannah Faith Monana participated in the 19th Summer Workshop for Korean Studies organized by Kyujanggak Institute of Korean Studies, Seoul National University, held from 30 June to 11 July 2025. The workshop sought to provide international graduate students in Korean Studies or Korea-related majors with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of current research trends across various fields of Korean Studies.
Hannah will also participate in the 2025 SEAA-SNU Anthropology Conference on 14 to 16 July 2025. Organized by the Society for East Asian Anthropology (American Anthropological Association) and Seoul National University Department of Anthropology, the joint conference, with the theme “Shaping Futures: East Asia as Practice,” will be held in-person at Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea.
Ms. Monana is taking her Master of Arts in Asian Studies with a specialization in Korea Studies. She is currently employed at the UP Center for International Studies.
RIEGO CONNECTS WITH KOREA ENTHUSIASTS THROUGH UP KRC'S KONECT 2025
Meanwhile, another Asian Center Korea Major Chynna Louise Riego will be participating in the 2025 Korea-Philippines Next Generation Koreanists Exchanges, Collaborations, and Trainings (KONECT) hosted by the UP Korea Research Center and supported by the Korea Foundation. The program will be held from 27 July to 7 August 2025 in South Korea.
The program aims to immerse Filipino Korean enthusiasts in-depth in Korean culture and Korea-Philippines relations. The KONECT program aims to train the next generation of Korean experts and provide a platform where participants gain deeper insight into Korean history and contemporary issues, and eventually apply their knowledge to understanding and addressing key issues.
Chynna Louise Riego is a graduate student at the UP Asian Center, taking a master’s in Asian studies with a specialization in Northeast Asia, focusing on Korea. Beyond academics, she bridges global partnerships between UP and the rest of the world, as Head of External Affairs and Executive Assistant at the UP-System Office of International Linkages, blending research, international relations, and project management into meaningful cross-cultural connections.
