ABOUT THE FORUM
The Asian Center Student Organization (ACSO) will hold its first Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Learning Session titled “How to Survive and Thrive in Your Graduate Student Era.” The session aims to help new AC graduate students manage their studies and personal life, share tips and experiences, build supportive connections, and gain confidence to succeed in their academic journey.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
MARVIN RAEL TENECIO
Student, MA Asian Studies - Northeast Asia (Korea)
Born and raised in Quezon City, Marvin Rael Tenecio earned his BA in Philippine Studies, magna cum laude, from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is currently completing his MA thesis on multiculturalism within Korean basic education, with a focus on Korean-Filipino students. His scholarly interests include Filipino and Korean psychology, migration, multiculturalism, Southeast Asian historical symbols, Asian religions, and social movements. He has authored academic and journalistic pieces on Philippine–Korean studies and related social issues, presented at local and international conferences, and received recognition for his work.
AXL ROSS TUMANUT
Student, MA Philippine Studies - Philippine Foreign Relations
Axl Ross J. Tumanut is taking up his Master of Arts in Philippine Studies (Specialization: Foreign Relations) at the University of the Philippines Asian Center. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from the same university in 2015. His research interests include Philippine-China relations, the South China Sea, and cognitive warfare. He is currently a Communication Officer under the Office of Senator Win Gatchalian, where he writes press releases, statements, and other materials to promote the Senator’s advocacies, policy proposals, and legislative agenda on human capital development, especially on education and health. Before joining the Office of Senator Gatchalian, he worked with different public relations agencies and worked with clients from the government and major players in industries such as information technology, banking, and healthcare, among others. His body of work for these clients largely focused on themes such as sustainability, innovation, and inclusion.
