The Asian Center Student Organization (ACSO) will be holding the online forum "Finishing Strong: A Thesis Survival Sessionon 23 April 2026, 6:00 PM, PST (GMT+8), Online via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public. 

  

ABOUT THE FORUM

This learning session, "Finishing Strong: A Thesis Survival Session," seeks to provide graduate students with practical strategies to complete their thesis journey. From managing time and overcoming writer’s block to refining arguments and preparing for defense, the session aims to equip participants with tools to stay motivated and finish with confidence. It also covers tips on maintaining balance, seeking support, and maximizing academic and professional opportunities as you wrap up your research.


ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

JOHN ADRIANFER ATIENZA
Student, MA Philippine Studies

John Adrianfer Atienza is a Master of Arts in Philippine Studies student at the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman. His research examines Philippine cinema as well as American and Japanese wartime newsreels related to the Philippines. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Humanities Diliman: A Philippine Journal of Humanities (2021, 2024) and Pelikula: A Journal of Philippine Cinema and Moving Image (2022, 2024). He has presented his research at conferences, workshops, and academic programs hosted by the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (2023); Universität Bonn (2024); the Philippine Historical Association (2020, 2021, 2025); the 12th KRITIKA La Salle (2024); the Japan Foundation Summer Program (2025); and the Japanese Studies Association of Southeast Asia (2025).


ROCHELLE LEONOR
Student, MA Asian Studies (Northeast Asia-Korea)

Rochelle Leonor is an MA Asian Studies (Northeast Asia-Korea) graduate student at the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman. She has an MBA and a BA in Journalism, and is also a corporate communication and digital marketing practitioner. Her research interests include the Korean War, North Korea, and the media’s role in various Korean issues.
