Indah Santi Pratidina is a permanent lecturer at the Department of Communication, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Indonesia. She received her Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication at Universitas Indonesia and then a Master's and Doctoral degrees from the Institute for the Study of Global Issues - Graduate School of Social Sciences at Hitotsubashi University, Japan. Before entering academics, she worked as a fiction book editor and translator at Gramedia Pustaka Utama, a publisher in Indonesia. Her research interests include media studies, intercultural communication, popular culture, and the use of social media by the public and communities. She is the author of "Motherhood Revisited: Pushing Boundaries in Indonesia's Online Discourse" in Digital Hate Book: The Global Conjuncture of Extreme Speech, Indiana University Press, 2021; dan “The Appetite for Revenge and Murder in Translation: Japanese Mystery Novels and their Social Media Savvy Indonesian Readers” in Border Crossings: The Journal of Japanese Language Literature Studies, 2020. In 2023, she co-authored an Indonesian film analysis paper, “R.A. Kartini" (1982) and "Kartini" (2017): Anguish and Silent Struggles in the Narratives of Indonesian Women's Empowerment Role Model” with Rouli Esther Pasaribu in Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Authors of semi-finalists of the 7th Japanese Research Development Competition will come together for the second phase of the competition. This three-day writing workshop aims to critique the papers through selected reviewers.
COMPETITION PRIZES AND PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITY
• The most well-developed research papers will be judged as winners of the competition.
• Winners will get the latest Apple iPad from the Japan Foundation Manila.
• All finalists will have the chance to publish in the Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspectives on Asia.
PHASE 3: RESEARCH PAPER PRESENTATIONS FOR SHORTLISTED PROPOSALS
• All finalists will be required to do an oral presentation during a public forum in March 2024. The presentation must not exceed 15 minutes.
• Failure to present their papers means ineligibility for the competition prizes. Presentations by proxies are not allowed.
