Morteza Sabouri

Morteza Sabouri, PhD is the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Manila. 

Henelito A. Sevilla, Jr.

Henelito Sevilla, Jr., PhD is an Assistant Professor at the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman. He handles courses in Philippine Foreign Relations and West Asia.  He obtained his PhD in International Relations from the University of Tehran. His research interests are Philippine-Middle East relations, energy security and Persian Gulf security.

Rolando G. Talampas

Rolando Talampas is an Associate Professor and College Secretary at the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman. He teaches courses in Asian Studies, particularly Theories and Perspectives in Asian Studies and Research Methods. His research interests include development, Iraq and Philippine studies.

Marianito Roque

Marianito D. Roque was Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employement, Republic of the Philippines from 2008 to 2010.

CURRENT ASIAN AFFAIRS LECTURE SERIES

The forum is the first event in the Asian Center’s “Current Asian Affairs Lecture Series,” which aims to tackle challenges arising from issues concerning progress, growth and development in 21st-century Asia. Involving scholars, policymakers and stakeholders, it seeks to provide varied perspectives and options for solutions that will be beneficial in addressing challenges in development in Asia and their implications on the Philippines.

The Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D.  program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
