The Failure of Conflict Management and the Future of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: The aftermath of the 4th Israel-Hamas War

This presentation will discuss the following: historical context (Hamas, Netanyahu); theoretical distinction between conflict management and resolution; immediate causes of the war; options (for Israel); misperceptions in Israel, USA, Hamas, and the region; what’s next; and the continuing relevance of the Two-State Solution.

About the Presenter

Several speakers were invited but confirmed to give a presentation is Professor Arie Kacowicz, who has been teaching in the Department of International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for the last 28 years; he is the author of five books, most of them related to peace studies; and editor or co-editor of five books. His areas of interest include peace studies; the Arab-Israeli conflict and the peace process; globalization and global governance; international relations of Latin America. He is the author of, among other works, "Rashomon in Jerusalem: Mapping the Israeli Negotiators' Position in the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process, 1993-2001," International Studies Perspectives 6: 252–273.
