Wherever I am, the world comes after me.
It offers me its busyness. It does not believe that I do not want it.
Now I understand
why the old poets of China went so far
and high
into the mountains, then crept into the pale mist.
"The Old Poets of China" by Mary Oliver

The Asian Center, University of the Philippines in partnership with the Institute of Asian and African Studies, Lomonosov Moscow State University will hold the online international conference, “Asia Today: Meaningful Change in the Post-Pandemic Transition” on 9 - 10 November 2023, 2 – 4 PM, (GMT+8), via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public but registration is required.
The time of the conference has been CHANGED to 2:00 PM, Manila Time

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Asia in the post-Covid-19 era continues to transition. As compelled by the pandemic, peoples, societies, and economies grappled and still grapple with internal and external impetuses for meaningful change. In what way can scholars reflect on the notion of change–its advances, impediments, and prospects in countries and regions within Asia, as well as its place in the academic discourse. The conference seeks to interrogate Asia with contemporary and historical explorations in the themes of society and culture, economic development, language, and foreign relations and governance. The event encourages a robust exchange between the faculties of the two institutions to get acquainted with each other’s research fields and explore a deeper functional cooperation in the near future.
