  • Asian Center Welcomes Visiting Scholar Dr. Reinaruth Carlos from Japan

     The UP Asian Center proudly welcomes Dr. Maria Reinaruth D. Carlos as the Center's new adjunct professor from June to January 2026. A Doctor of Economics and a Professor at the Ryukoku University Graduate School of International Studies in Kyoto, Japan,  Dr. Carlos joins the Center bringing her rich academic and professional background, which spans multiple countries and disciplines.

The UPD Asian Center and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Philippines welcome applications for a FREE batik-making workshop on 11 February 2020, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., UP Asian Center, QC

The UP Asian Center will host a forum and research competition, "Japanese Studies in the Philippines on 18 January 2020, 8 am–2 pm, UP Asian Center, QC.

Five Japan majors of the UP Asian Center took part in a six-day study tour in Japan from 15 to 20 December 2020.

Former Professor and Dean of the Asian Center, Dean Ajit Singh Rye passed away on 2 January 2020. He was 93.

Students, faculty and alumni of the UP Asian Center presented their studies at the 3rd Southeast Asian Studies in Asia (SEASIA) Conference held on 5-7 December 2019 at Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan.
