The UP Asian Center, in partnership with UP Center for International Studies, and Philippines-Cuba Cultural and Friendship Association (PhilCuba), will be holding a public forum, “The Resurgence of the Left in Latin America and the Challenge of the Right in the Global South: Implications for Asia and the Philippines” on 5 February 2024, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (GMT+8), PH Time, at the Seminar Room, UP Asian Center. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-serve.

The UP Asian Center and the UP Center for International Studies (CIS) hosted the Cultural Heritage Lecture: Heritage Law Vital Signs and Symbols last 24 October 2023 at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium in celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the UP CIS.

The Asian Center of the University of the Philippines Diliman is saddened by the passing of Professor Emeritus Josefa Saniel on 21 December 2023, and wishes to express its deep gratitude for her valuable service to the University and country.  Dr. Saniel, who was Asian Center Dean (1980-1983) and appointed as professor emeritus by UP in 1993, was a pioneer of and leading scholar in Japan Studies and area studies in the Philippines.

The UP Asian Center, in partnership with the Consortium on Southeast Asian Studies (SEASIA) 2024 UP Conference Committee, will host a public lecture, “Critical Research Ethics as Decolonial Praxis” on 10 January 2024, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (GMT+8), at the GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center. The event is free and open to the public.

 The class of the UP Asian Center, AS 230, AS 234, AS 237.1, and PS 279, will be holding a poster exhibit and public forum, “Convergence, Confluence, Change In and Beyond Post-Pandemic Northeast Asia,” on 12 January 2024, 5:00 pm to 8:15pm, and 13 January 2024, 1:00 pm to 4:15 pm, Philippine Time at the Seminar Room, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center. The event is free and open to the public.
