    The UP Asian Center was honored to host a delegation of youth leaders from Timor-Leste last 3 June 2024. Education Attaché Mr. Tomas Mendonça from the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste led the visit which included a series of talks, question-and-answer, and information session.

  • UP Asian Center Launches Exhibit on Pansak Movement

    The UP Asian Center celebrated Sama Bajau music and dance tradition on 6 June 2024, with "Tampat Pag-addatan Sahaya: Place, Tradition and Light"  a series of lectures and performances that highlights the role of UP Diliman as a space for indigenous and marginalized cultures to be expressed. Held at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium in Diliman, Quezon City, the event marked an exploration of pansak in the field, the University stage, and other spaces, as well as the kinaesthetics, convention, and improvisation of pansak by the Sama Bangingi.

The conference, “Sabang: Early Southeast Asian-European Intercultural Encounters,” — to be held via Zoom from 18 to 20 March 2021— will look at early modern Philippine history in its global and Southeast Asian context.

As part of International Women's Day, the Asian Center would like to showcase the various articles on women, gender, and sexuality that it has published since 1963. All the PDFs of the article are available for FREE.

The Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman will be holding—via Zoom—the international conference, “Sabang: Early Southeast Asian-European Intercultural Encounters” from 18– 20 March 2021. 

The Search Committee for the Deanship of the Asian Center shall receive nominations from 8 am of 1 March 2021 to 5 pm of 19 March 2021. Please submit the following documents in electronic copies with signatures affixed.

The articles in this EDSA issue reflect on the events of 1986 and their legacy just a few years later, and offers contemporaneous views of how EDSA 1986 was perceived, and makes for interesting reflections on how such analyses, hopes, fears, and dreams have fared more than three decades years later.
