News @ UP Asian Center

The UP Asian Center will be holding the online lecture "Decolonization and Imperial Agenda: The Philippine South in the 1920’s" on 26 June 2026, at 2:00 PM, PHT (GMT+8), Online via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public, but signing in to a (free) Zoom account is required.

The UP Asian Center, in partnership with the UP Bangsamoro Studies Group, will be hosting an on-site lecture "Reflections on Zamboanga. War, commerce, and faith in a Spanish frontier region (1635-1805)" on 18 June 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, PHT (GMT+8) at the Seminar Room, Asian Center, UP Diliman. The event is free and open to the public. Online registration is encouraged due to limited slots. 

Eight UP Asian Center faculty members were named UP Social Scientists / UP Scholars in recognition of their scholarly achievements in the social sciences and philosophy. The award was granted in two batches, 2023-2025 and 2024-2026. 

The UP Asian Center, sponsored by the Bharati Indian Expat Women's Association Manila, will be hosting a "Yoga and Meditation Day"  as part of the Asian Center Wellness Program on 9 June 2026, 3:00 PM, PHT (GMT+8), at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, UP Diliman. The event is free and open only to the public. LIMITED SLOTS ONLY!!! Online registration is REQUIRED due to limited slots. 

The UP Asian Center will hold the 2026 Graduate Student Conference: "Navigating a New World Order: Turbulence, and Transformation in Asia" on 30 May 2026, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, PHT (GMT+8) at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, UP Asian Center. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-served. Walk-ins are welcome, but participants are encouraged to register online.
