The UP Asian Center further expanded its academic network by collaborating with the Eurasia Center of John von Neumann University, Hungary. Last 9 September 2024, the two institutions conducted the international symposium “The Practice of Area Studies in the Philippines and Hungary” at the Seminar Room of the UP Asian Center.

The UP Asian Center hosted scholars from Japan and the Philippines for a symposium on “Migration within and from Southeast Asia” held last 6 September 2024 at the Seminar Room of the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman. Researchers and students from universities such as UP Diliman, UP Manila, and Rizal Technological University attended the event.

The UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs released OVPAA Memorandum No. 2024-119 on the posting of the Revised UP Privacy Notice for Classes and Other Class-Related Activities Conducted via Video Conference Applications in line with the National Privacy Commission Guideline on Consent NPC Circular No. 2023-04.

The UP Asian Center will hold the online international conference "Negotiating Asian Spatialities: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives on Mobility, Liminality, and Rootedness" on 10-11 October 2024, 9 AM, PHT (GMT+8), via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public. Online registration is required.

The UP Asian Center successfully conducted the 5th Biennial Conference of the Consortium for Southeast Asian Studies in Asia (SEASIA). First time held in the Philippines, the conference was held from 18 to 20 July 2024 at the GT-Toyota Asian Center and the UP School of Economics.
